Tour Overview

This 14-day trek goes up to the base of Mount Jomolhari which stands at 7,315m (23,995ft) above sea level. The trek offers amazing views of snow-capped peaks, pristine and lush green landscapes, remote villages, fortresses, alpine meadows (home of Takin – the national animal of Bhutan), blue sheep and yaks, and the inviting village of Laya (Home of the Layaps – People of Laya). This village stands testimony to Bhutan’s unique culture and tradition.

Another epic highlight of this trek is the Gasa Tsachu (natural hot springs) which the Bhutanese believe is blessed by the supernatural power of Guru Padma Sambhava. Immersing yourself in one of these steamy springs is said to cure you of your illnesses and rejuvenate your bodily elements. The trek ends in Gasa. Drive to through the dense forest of Damji to Punakha.

Day 01 :

PARO

Arrive Paro International Airport
Meet with representative from Bhutan Journeys.
Transfer to hotel
Drive to visit Paro Rimpong Dzong, Archery and Paro town.
Evening at Leisure

Day 02 :

PARO VALLEY EXPLORATION

Day hike to spectacular Taktsang (Tiger Nest) monastery.( Climb through the beautiful pine forest, Spanish moss and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags)
Kyichu Lhakhang (oldest monastery in Bhutan)
Experience hot stone bath.

Day 03 :

PARO VALLEY EXPLORATION

Nature excursion drive to Chele pass (3988meters),highest motorable road in Bhutan,
3 hours drive through the blue pine and rhododendrons forest.
Breathtaking views of Mount Jhomolhari and Jichu Drakey on a clear day.
Hike along the ridge of Chelea pass.
Picnic lunch on the way
Drive back to Paro
Visit Paro Rimpong Dzong, Traditional cantilever bridge, archery, the National Sport of Bhutan

Day 04 :

(TREK DAY 1): PARO – SHANA – SYENDU ZAMPA (TREK START)

Depart your hotel to Shana
Pass Drukgyel Dzong and
2 hours drive to Shana
Time: 3-4 hrs.

Camp at Syendu Zampa

Day 05 :

(TREK DAY 2): SYENDU ZAMPA – UPPER SIO THANGTHANGKHA, ABOVE ARMY CAMP

Time: 5-6 hrs. (add 1hr if trail is muddy)
Distance: 15 Km / 9 .6 miles

Overnight: Camp

Day 06 :

(TREK DAY3): UPPER THANGTHANGKHA – JANGOTHANG

Distance: 11.9 miles
Time: 4-5 hrs.

Rest Day for acclimatization and take stupendous day hikes.

Time: 7-8 hrs

Time: 6-7 hrs.
Limithang: 4160m/13645ft.

Rest Day to explore the community of Layaps.

(TREK DAY 13): KOINA TO GASA HOT SPRING (TREK END)

Distance: 12km / 7.4miles
Time: 6-7 hrs.
Visit Gasa Dzong
Descend to Gasa Hot spring
Enjoy the hot spring soak

Day 17 :

GASA HOT SPRING 7282FT /2220M) – PUNAKHA ( 47 Km)

Transfer to Punakha through scenic mountains and village of Damji.
3-4 hour drive.
Picnic lunch along the route
Drive through Punakha Valley to your hotel

PUNAKHA – THIMPHU (71Km)

Visit Punakha Dzong, one of the most architecturally impressive Dzong in the country and named as “ Place of Great Happiness”
Drive to Lobesa
Visit Chimi Lhakhang, a monastery of fertility associated with Drukpa Kuenley : Divine Madman”
Drive to Thimphu over Dochulas pass ( 3050m / 10,000ft)
Panoramic views of Himalayan peaks
Descend to Thimphu, capital of Bhutan
