Tour Overview

You will be using the hotels like Aman, Zhiwaling in Paro, Uma Paro & Uma Punakha, Tashi Taj Hotel in Thimhu, Termalinca in Thimphu and Le Meridian in Paro and Thimphu, Dhensa in Punakha and Naksel in Paro and Gantey Gompa lodge in Phobjikha, Wangdue.

Itinerary

Day 1PARO – THIMPHU ( 55km)

* Arrive at Paro International Airport
* Meet the representatives from Bhutan Journeys.
* Transfer to Thimphu (The Capital of Bhutan) 2 hours drive.
* Visit Iron Chain Bridge( An ancient craft work in the middle Ages)
* Explore in Thimphu main street

Overnight: Taj Tashi Hotel

Day 2THIMPHU VALLEY EXPLORATION

Visit following places of cultural interest:

* National Memorial Chorten (Stupa)
* Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue, 169ft)
* Institute of Arts & Crafts school
* Takin Enclosure
* Tashi Cho Dzong- (Fortress of Glorious Religion)
* Archery

Overnight: Taj Tashi Hotel

Day 3THIMPHU VALLEY EXPLORATION

* Hike to Tango and Chari Monasteries(an ancient monasteries in the Thimphu region)
* Visit Tashi Cho Dzong- (Fortress of Glorious Religion).
* Post Office

Day 4THIMPHU – PHOBJIKHA (135km)

* Transfer to Phobjikha Valley via Dochula pass (10,000 ft.) and drive takes about 5-6 hours.
* Stop for light refreshment at Dochula cafeteria.
* En-route you will experience the ever changing beautiful sceneries of rural Bhutan, with scattered settlements far flung from the road to Phele pass (3350m 11000ft) surrounded by Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park.
* Descend to Phobjikha Valley—Valley of Black Necked cranes”Grus Nigricolis”.
* After about an hour drive, you will reach at Aman Kora.
* Drive to visit Gangtey monastery
* Visit crane information center

Overnight: Gangtey Gompa

Day 5PHOBJIKHA – BUMTHANG (188km)

* Depart to Bumthang via Trongsa
* The journey is perhaps long, but memorable with dramatic landscapes of terraced farmland, deep river valley and precariously perched farmhouse.
* View Chendebji Chorten
* Visit Trongsa Dzong, “An ancestral home to Bhutan’s monarch”
* Continue your drive onward to Bumthang “the spiritual heartland of the kingdom” over the picturesque Yotong la pass (11,800ft) and down into the Chhumey valley” home of Bhutan’s famous Yatra weaving center”.
* Pass over Kikila lass (2700M) and descend to Jakar

Overnight: Aman Kora, Bumthang

Day 6BUMTHANG VALLEY EXPLORATION

* Ideal place to explore on foot
* Drive to visit Jambay Lhakhang built by the Tibetan King Songsten Gampo in the 7th Century.
* Take a gradual walk to visit the Zangdopleri Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang (Body imprint of Guru Rimpoche was left behind while meditating in a cave).
* Gradual hike to Tamshing monastery built by Terton Pema Lingpa
* Lunch at Farmhouse
* Afternoon, drive to visit Mebartsho (flaming lake) where Guru Rinpoche reveal the hidden treasure.
* Drive back to your Hotel

Overnight: Aman Kora, Bumthang

Day 7BUMTHANG – PUNAKHA (212km)

* Depart early morning to Punakha via Trongsa and Wangdue, drive takes about 7-8 hours.
* Passing through the spectacular views of the astonishing forest and villages.
* Picnic lunch along the route.
* Drive over Phele pass and descend to Punakha.

Overnight: Uma, Punakha

Day 8PUNAKHA VALLEY EXPLORATION

* Drive to visit the Punakha Dzong “Palace of Great Happiness.”
* Drive for lunch at local restaurant.
* Afternoon, take a gradual hike about an hour to Chime Lhakhang (Temple of fertility- Drukpa Kuenley, Divine Madman)

Overnight: Uma, Punakha

Day 9PUNAKHA – PARO (125km)

* Your journey takes you back to Paro Valley.
* A few steps at the end of a village road lead you through a pine forest towards Aman kora, a 24-suite lodge.
* Aman kora spa offers a range of unique healing and rejuvenating treatments.
* Afternoon, stroll to the nearby ruins, visit to some of the valley’s oldest and holiest religious monuments.
* Explore in Paro main town.

Overnight: Aman Kora, Paro

Day 10PARO VALLEY EXPLORATION

* Excursion hike to Taktsang (Tiger Nest) monastery.
* Drive to visit National Museum, to view ancient wall paintings.
* Visit Paro Dzong
* Stroll in Paro town

Overnight: Aman Kora, Paro

Day 11DEPART PARO

* Transfer to airport for your onward international flight
