Tour Overview

This walking tour” provides the perfect opportunity for tourists interested in pursuing the challenge, fun, and adventure of walking with nature. It enables you to explore and experience the sights of the country, interact with local people and be a part of Bhutanese culture.

Walking tours, like all Bhutanese tours, are accompanied by a local tour guide and spend the night in hotels and guesthouses. The walk will cover a distance of 4 to 12 kilometers each day and your luggage will be transferred to your destination.

Itinerary

Day 1ARRIVE PARO

* Arrive at Paro international airport.
* Meet with the representative from Bhutan Journeys.
* Transfer to your hotel
* Leisure

Overnight: Hotel

Day 2PARO – PUNAKHA (125 km)

* Morning drive to Punakha via Thimphu.
* En-route you will view Tachongang Monastery, “the temple of excellent hourse”
* You will visit Iron Chain Bridge (most visible ancient craft work in middle ages)
* Drive over Dochula pass ( 3050m/10,000ft)
* Descend to Punakha
* Evening at leisure.

Overnight: Hotel

Day 3PUNAKHA

* Drive to north of Punakha Valley
* Hike to Khamsum Yulley Chorten
* Drive back for lunch
* Afternoon hike to visit Chimi Lhakhang (fertility temple).

Day 4PUNAKHA

* Drive to Chorten Nebu monastery (200 years old statue of future Buddha). Visit the monastery, and walk to base.
* Picnic lunch along the river side.
* Drive to visit Punakha Dzong.

Day 5PUNAKHA – THIMPHU ( 71 km)

* Morning drive Dochula pass
* Hike to lungchuste ( 2 hours hike)
* Descend to Tashiagang Gompa to Hongsto
* Drive to Thimphu
* Evening at leisure.

Day 6THIMPHU

* Drive to north of Thimphu valley to Dodeyna
* Visit Cheri Monastery, meditation center
* Walk back to the base.
* Picnic lunch at the riverside
* Walk through Kabisa Village to Pangrizam
* Drive towards Thimphu.

Overnight: Hotel

Day 7THIMPHU – PARO (54 km)

* Drive to visit Kuensel Phodrang ( 169ft Buddha Statue)
* Walk back to Memorial Chorten
* Afternoon drive to visit takin enclosure to the see National Animal.
* Afternoon drive to Paro. (2 hours’ drive )
* Evening at leisure.

Overnight: Hotel

Day 8PARO

* Drive towards north of Paro valley
* Day excursion hike to Taktsang (Tiger Nest) monastery.
* Walk back to Cafeteria for lunch.
* Descend to the base
* Experience hot bath
* Leisure

Overnight: Hotel / Farm House

Day 9 PARO

* Drive to Chele La Pass (3988m) the highest road access in Bhutan.
* Hike along the ridge till you reach the sky burial spot.
* Picnic lunch and walk to the pass
* Drive back to Paro and visit Paro Dzong
* Stroll through Paro town.

Overnight: Hotel / Farm House

Day 10DEPART

* Drive to Paro Airport for your destination flight.
